After the U.S. Department of the Interior issued a final Record of Decision approving construction on the Willow Project in Alaska, United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus hailed the decision by the Biden Administration as critical to reaching our shared energy goals and creating good-paying union jobs in the process:
“Following a lengthy and rigorous review process and input from stakeholders and native Alaskans, President Biden kept his promise to American workers. United Association members are the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the industry. Our members in Alaska have a proud history of building and maintaining the energy systems that are essential to powering our infrastructure, our homes, and our communities, and of being good stewards of the land and communities in which they live and work,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “Thanks to the leadership of President Biden and the Alaska Congressional Delegation, this common-sense approach to our energy future – an all-of-the-above approach in which each project is judged on its own merits – can be the model moving forward. We look forward to continuing our important work powering this nation and breaking ground on this historic project that will create family-sustaining jobs and investment in North Slope communities.”
