Thursday, April 29, 2021

After the Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act passed in the U.S. Senate today, United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus praised the legislation as a critical piece of infrastructure that will generate good-paying jobs:

“The Drinking Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Act, passed by an overwhelmingly bipartisan margin, makes clear that modernizing our nation’s water infrastructure is critical to our efforts to build back better – and that creating good-paying union jobs is essential to that goal,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “This legislation includes investments that will not only help update our aging systems, but enable investment in new technologies, expand access to marginalized communities, and replace lead pipes. With strong labor protections, this bill will directly create thousands of good-paying jobs for our members – who are, quite simply, the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the world. The entire United Association stands ready to lead the way on our combined efforts to modernize our nation’s water infrastructure and build back better.”
