At the White House this afternoon, United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus participated in a panel discussion on the new partnerships and accelerator hubs announced by the Biden Administration to facilitate the replacement of all lead service lines in the United States. General President McManus hailed the partnerships as critical to protecting the health of all Americans, the future of our communities, and to modernizing American infrastructure:

“For generations, the plumber has protected the health of the nation. United Association members are the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the world – and we are already hard at work modernizing our nation’s water infrastructure and replacing lead service lines. Today’s announcement, combined with strong labor protections and licensing requirements, will ensure that we continue our critical work delivering clean water to all Americans,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “Just like we did in Flint, Michigan, we are continuing to replace dangerous lead service lines in communities across the United States. This work is too important to cut corners. The partnerships we have already formed, and the partnerships announced today, mean that United Association members will continue to protect the health of the nation for generations to come.”
