After the Biden Administration and the Department of the Interior released the final supplemental environmental impact statement for the proposed Willow Project in Alaska, United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) General President Mark McManus hailed the project as a product of bipartisan compromise and thorough review that will create good-paying union jobs:
“United Association members are the best trained and most highly skilled craftspeople in the industry. Our members in Alaska have a proud history of building and maintaining the energy systems that are essential to powering our infrastructure, our homes, and our communities – and being good stewards of the land and communities in which they live and work,” said Mark McManus, General President of the United Association. “After a rigorous environmental review and input from stakeholders, we are ready to begin our important work on the Willow Project. Thanks to the leadership of President Biden and Senator Murkowski, this common-sense and bipartisan approach to the future of American energy infrastructure can be the model moving forward. We look forward to finally breaking ground on this historic project that will create family-sustaining jobs delivering affordable, reliable, and efficient energy to our communities.”
