In another sign of our growing power on Capitol Hill and the importance of fighting to make it easier to organize, the U.S. House recently passed the Faster Labor Contracts Act (FLCA) with bipartisan support. This legislation now heads to the Senate for further consideration. The FLCA would make it easier to negotiate a first contract, helping us bring in new members more quickly.
For UA members, the bill is a reminder that lobbying can help advance policies that support workers and strengthen opportunities across the skilled trades. The vote also highlights the importance of maintaining relationships with elected officials from both parties on issues that matter to UA members. The UA's continued engagement with policymakers helps ensure the voices of members and apprentices are represented throughout the legislative process.
