Clean Water is a right
Access to clean and safe water is not just something we take for granted. It is an essential component to a functioning society.
Legislation like the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) means UA members can continue our important work delivering clean and safe water to communities across the nation. From increased funding for critical Army Corps of Engineers projects to essential studies that will pave the way for the future of our water infrastructure, and from wastewater assistance programs in underserved communities to conservation efforts, this bipartisan bill is a true example of what Congress can achieve for the American people.
The Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) is another important piece of water infrastructure legislation that creates good-paying UA jobs. WIFIA loans fund wastewater, drinking water, and stormwater projects – and these loans can be combined with State Revolving Funds, created by the Clean Water Act, so that local municipalities can build and maintain these essential water systems.
Funding Secured for Water Infrastructure Projects
Our Department works tirelessly to advance important legislation in Washington, D.C., like the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) and the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA) each Congress.
We fought – and won – historic levels of funding for water infrastructure projects in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in 2021, and we are constantly working to protect these funding streams.
